Massive update time~

Hokay, massive stuff post - have been back at college and busy recently.
My CS 125 professor is awesome. He's British, and his general talent for hyperbole would not sound out of place on Top Gear. The first few lectures, he's always had something up when lecture's started - Wikipedia pages for notable people (Ada Lovelace, Charles Babbage, Alan Turing, etc.), a bizarre fully interactive panoramic fly-by video thing (you could rotate the camera on the screen as the video played, or while it was paused), and at one point he attempted (keyword being attempted) to write a debugging-related song to the lyrics of "Hard to Handle." He's fond of using rows of seats in the lecture hall to represent memory locations, describing computing functions in terms of well-trained rodents, and suggesting that a computer running up on a bad program will catch fire.
And just now, he sent out an email to the class to update us on things - noting that the help session for tonight was canceled because of the storm, that everything would still be going tomorrow unless the school decided to shut classes (again, because of the storm), noting that the condition of the sidewalks would probably be the deciding factor in closing, rather than the street... and suggesting the location of a good sledding hill near campus XD
As people reading this may or may not know, I'm part of a Changeling: the Lost LARP here on campus. This past Saturday was supposed to be our first game of the new semester, but other plans took over - our ST (game master) hasn't been feeling the game recently and has decided to step down. So game didn't happen - however, two of the players (I'll call them Scroll and Lion, due to their characters' appearances) have jointly stepped up to fill the gap, with some coaching from him to get them through his notes and get them started running things. Former ST has also expressed the possibility of him staying on as a player, as well.
It's not going to be the same without him, but Scroll and Lion should do quite a good job. Also, hopefully this means the notes for something in my character's personal side-plot that I asked Former ST for several months ago and he keeps forgetting to dig out will finally be found - he had them all written up, but kept forgetting to look for where he put them XP
Also, my theory in the last post to discuss RP turned out to be wrong - the "kinetic staff" my character has wasn't the Monkey King's staff from Journey to the West. In fact, it was a High Guard Force Lance from Andromeda (which I really need to watch one of these days). The plus side is that my character finally has a reliable ranged weapon (despite his low Firearms score).
As readers, once again, may or may not know, I'm going to college in central Illinois. Which has been snow/ice central since about 2 PM local time yesterday, got really bad this afternoon, and is supposed to be so at least all through tonight if not through tomorrow as well. So far we've had rather more itty-bitty ice than snow, which really stings when it hits one in the face.
The chancellor has been sending out emails regarding the weather - starting with a rather poorly-judged "We're not closing!" one yesterday (why send something out to tell people nothing was changing?). He followed up today with canceling all classes beginning at 5 PM or later (which kinda sucks, since I had one that ended at 5) and the news that if there was a general snow day tomorrow, it would be announced by 10 PM tonight. One of the people in said 3-5 PM class suggested that G-Mail (which hosts the university's mail server) was going to crash tonight around 10 from the load of every student in the college constantly refreshing their email to see if we had a snow day XD
No power problems here yet, but we'll see. I hope if they do call classes my physics teacher won't decide to make homework due at the usual time anyway (an explanation: homework in my current physics class is due either in the 9 AM lecture or in the course mailbox before then). I live right across the street from the physics building, but I'd still rather not get up at 9 on a snow day and walk over there (possibly in the snow/ice) just to deliver my stupid Physics homework.
EDIT: As of ten 'til ten, no classes tomorrow! Also, the chancellor's email warned that "Due to high traffic, the campus home page may be intermittently unavailable." Guess someone was right about the refreshing...
Final note: I really think it's rather inconsiderate of them to have the Super Bowl on my birthday.
