... Somehow my frustration at being able to find the second and third Larklight books and the D: at the Temeraire fic on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants have combined into a desire to write a Temeraire/Larklight crossover.

I'm not sure how this would even work, considering they're set in two very different alternate histories - Larklight nearly fifty years later - and neither has shown a propensity for negative space wedgies. But I'm sure we can squeeze one into Larklight somewhere...

Though it really would be nice to find the other two Larklight books.

Two actually.

One is very, very vague - a swords-and-sorcery type setting, but set further back - in the Roman Empire, actually. Good excuse for mythological monsters.

The other's a little more detailed - it'd end up basically as a dressing room-type thing. And it involves an idea [livejournal.com profile] poetesslaureate gave me a while ago. Namely Archmage!Pharaun.

How he got to be Archmage I'm not sure yet; either Aliisza resurrected him or he wasn't fool enough to go to Quenthel for help and just floated away until the paralyzing spell wore off. Either way, once he's Archmage he's been doing a bit of looking into the idea of alternate dimensions, and has found that there are lots of them. So he turns Menzoberranzan into a big universal crossroads, where people from everywhere get to meet - not just FR characters, everyone.

... Okay, neither idea's as clear as it could be, I'll admit. Welcoming advice here.

Okay, this is one of those ensemble-cast magic-warrior-whatsis stories, yes?

Got four people, called "Agents" - they're recruited by a mysterious organization to fight another mysterious organization (read: the actual plot is still a work in progress). Each one is given elemental powers and codenamed after one of the Greek titans that more or less corresponds to those powers - Cronos for air, Rhea for earth, Helios for fire, and Tethys for water. Two guys and two girls. Pretty standard so far, right?

Here's the weird part. Each character fills a role in the team that more or less corresponds to their personality. But the people giving them their powers screwed up a little.

First, the genders are swapped - Agent Cronos and Agent Helios are female, Agent Rhea and Agent Tethys are male.

Second, while the roles fit their personalities, the elements are sort of twisted - they fit if you squint, but not very well.

Agent Cronos is the smart one and the healer - if the personalities actually corresponded to the elements, she would've been water.

Agent Rhea is the hot-blooded leader and basically the artillery and ranged attacker. He should've been fire.

Agent Helios is the nurturing type - the team mom, basically - and the heavy muscle. She ought to have fit into earth.

Agent Tethys, as you've probably guessed, should've been air - the flighty, whimsical speedster.

... Yes, this would be a humor piece, why do you ask?

Occasionally I get ideas for original fiction as well as fanfics. This is one I just had last night:

Post-apocalyptic fairy tales? Now that's just crazy talk... )
