Nightmare

I had a nightmare last night. Well, more accurately, this morning - I had an impression of being rushed, like it all happened just before I woke up. If it's exam stress, it's the first time such has ever given me nightmares, and it's a lot more bizarre than my nightmares usually are.

It started with me wandering around a large city somewhere in eastern Asia under some sort of totalitarian regime - I heard someone mention "personality police" in passing; of course I understood them. There was some sort of religious ceremony taking place to keep something contained in a research facility, and I settled down to watch that facility with someone whose appearance I can't recall. All I know is that they were male, and apparently fairly young - no older than I am.

Then the dream jumped to a point after we'd been waiting for a while, and I could hear what I think were the transmissions on the guards' walkie-talkies, something about a "containment failure." That got a sardonic laugh from me, because I knew they were in for it - what they were trying to contain was Suzumiya Haruhi. Sure enough, she broke out - I didn't see what happened to the people at the facility, but she'd grown taller than the building we were sitting on the roof of, and leaned down to inspect my companion.

Then she was a normal size again, and in a darkened lab, mixing something in a flask. At this point I started jumping forward through time again, seeing the same scene over and over, as it deteriorated. I heard her voice over the scene, saying a perfectly coherent plan about "all I have to do to get out". But over the repetitions, which came in shorter and shorter flashes, the flask bubbled over, the voice broke down into insane babbling, and she dissolved into a skeleton. A perfectly clean skeleton, in fact - it wouldn't have been at all horrifying if I hadn't just seen its owner's flesh burn away. It was about at this point that I woke up. I had an impression that whatever was in that flask was causing it - driving her insane and making her hallucinate as it dissolved her flesh away. Acid, in both senses of the word (that particular impression and turn of phrase, oddly, only occurred to me after I woke up).

I somehow managed to get back to sleep, and didn't get any definite images this time, but there was a soothing impression, that she was all right and had escaped with no problems. I was still scared out of my mind when I woke up again, though - enough to nearly have a heart attack when a toilet flushed suddenly as I passed by the bathroom on the way to breakfast and think I could hear every alarm clock on the floor going off all at once. I couldn't stop thinking about the dream until I wrote it down, so maybe I'll be able to relax now.

*comfs*

When I read "eastern Asia" in your second paragraph I automatically thought, OMG YOU HAD A NIGHTMARE ABOUT MEEEEE D:

And I was thinking about how epic it was to dream about Haruhi when I read about the, uh, acid and the skeleton part. Meep. Do not want. *shivers*

I have absolutely no idea why she was even in my dream, considering it was more like End of Evangelion than anything else. And considering I've seen about an episode and a half of Haruhi and none of Evangelion ever, I'm not sure how it happened. Still creepy, though.

It's weird, though, because I don't usually have nightmares - especially vivid ones like that. And I'm not actually that worried about my exams. [hugs to make shivers go away?]

*was going to have a hug!icon but... HERE'S HARUHI* :p

I'm that way, too. I don't usually get nightmares or even vivid dreams, for that matter. But there are a few once in a while... although I can't remember them now. Maybe you watched something last night before you went to bed, or you were thinking of something really hard?

*yay hugs! and sappy tags~* ♥

Maybe. Don't know why I would have been, though... *ish confused*

Just don't think about it anymore? Dreams are weird like that.

... Or maybe it was just a plot bunny that escaped and evolved into a really weird form and started wrecking havoc in your brain?

Except I keep track of my plotbunnies. And the only one involving Haruhi also involves Keys to the Kingdom and TWEWY...

I'm not sure I could turn that dream into a fic anyway. I can't write horror.

Bro... did you drink anything that tasted funny last night?
Don't you hate it when the first part of your nightmare has absolutely nothing to do with the second part?

Not that I noticed. Besides, I don't get nightmares when I am sick. Mostly because by the time I fall asleep I'm too tired to dream.

This one did. It's just not a very good something. :P
